Ania Wiatr
Anna (Ania) Wiatr was born in Poland in 1980. She was educated musically from the age of six with her main instrument the piano. In 2000, she graduated from Music High School in Kielce’s Eurhythmics and Dance Faculty and in 2005 graduated from the Academy of Music in Gdansk, from the Faculty of Theory of Music and Composition.
During her studies, Ania took part in the Erasmus/Socrates programme, spending a term at the Pirmanmaa School of Music in Tampere, Finland, where she was studying in the Department of Music Technology. In 2005, she acquired a one–off grant from the Mayor of the City of Gdansk as an award for exceptional academic results.
Before graduating, Ania worked as a sound engineer at the Academy’s recording studio and continued work there until September 2006.
In Spring 2007, she gained a Distinction and Award for her Master’s thesis: Expressing the Kalevala Myths through Music in Symphonic Pieces by Jean Sibelius at the Annual Master Thesis National Competition.
Ania has been teaching at the NLCC since her arrival in England in September 2007.
